The newly completed 23,192 square foot Student Support Center at Fullerton College is a transformative hub designed to enrich student success. This modern two story facility features contemporary offices, conference areas, flexible classrooms, and inviting communal spaces that foster a sense of community. Most importantly, it unifies a wide range of essential student services under one roof, making support more accessible than ever.
Fostering cultural belonging and diversity
Supporting LGBTQIA2S+ campus community needs
Serving undocumented & immigrant student success
Addressing student food insecurity
Aiding educationally disadvantaged students
Supporting students exiting the foster care system
Providing on-campus health and wellness care
Offering resources for veterans & military-affiliated students
Bringing these previously scattered services together in one location has significantly improved the visibility and accessibility of student support. Students can now discover and visit multiple services in a single stop. The building’s strategic location near Chapman Avenue and North Pomona Avenue also supports ongoing enrollment growth. The new center sets the stage for future campus improvements including a state funded Performing Arts Complex now under construction. This further enhances the Fullerton College environment and student experience.

Designing and constructing a modern student center of this scope required addressing complex user needs and expectations. Our team incorporated insights from department staff, student representatives, and campus culture. The functional program was developed through close collaboration with services ranging from student advocacy to health and wellness.
An architectural priority was creating a design that aligned with the historic Mission Revival aesthetic of Fullerton College. The building’s placement and visibility were especially important since the Student Support Center now serves as a prominent gateway to campus.
The design process coincided with the end of campus restrictions related to public health events. This required a heightened focus on flexible space planning, improved air flow, and thoughtful management of student movement through common areas. Each decision supported long term resilience and modern standards for campus environments.
Supply chain constraints during construction also required careful planning. To avoid delays, the team worked proactively with suppliers and trade partners to secure materials and confirm availability early. This approach helped maintain quality and ensured progress stayed on schedule. While the project did not face disruptive setbacks, the combination of early coordination and disciplined planning contributed to a smooth delivery.

The collaborative work that shaped the Student Support Center continues in day to day operations. By consolidating a broad range of student services into one location, the facility strengthens cross department coordination. Staff members from different programs now share insights more easily and respond to student needs with greater consistency and speed. This integrated model supports wraparound services that depend on close collaboration across multiple disciplines.
For students, the impact is both immediate and meaningful. The center creates a single destination for academic services, wellness support, food access, cultural engagement, and resources for undocumented students, veterans, and foster youth. A student can visit the Veterans Resource Center, access food support, receive counseling, and meet with the Grads to Be program within a short walk of each other. This unified approach makes the campus experience more supportive and more navigable.
Designed to enhance student success by centralizing vital resources, services and support programs in one location.
Students facing academic, wellness, or financial challenges now receive support more quickly and with fewer barriers. The Student Support Center strengthens the college’s commitment to equitable access for all students and positions Fullerton College as a leader in comprehensive student care.
The project also demonstrates the value of thoughtful design, collaborative planning, and construction expertise within an educational environment. The new facility brings together multiple services into a cohesive space that encourages belonging, connection, and student centered engagement. By blending functionality with campus culture, the center sets a new standard for student focused design on campus.
This project represents much more than a new building. It reflects what is possible when campus leadership, planning teams, design professionals, and construction partners work with a shared vision. If your institution is looking to increase enrollment, modernize student environments, or rethink how support services are delivered, we would welcome the opportunity to collaborate.
